The playground at Konrad-Adenauer-Platz providing a multisensory experience: listening, seeing and feeling. Each of its four sections has a pathway and is themed according to a different sense.
At the centre is the playhouse, in cheerful broom yellow. The roof construction has colourful windows that reflect patches of colour onto the floor when exposed to sunlight. On the platform, sand is transported from bottom to top with the sand lift, then flows slowly back to the ground through the embedded sieves. This filters out any little stones – or perhaps there’s treasure hiding there?
A total of three different play tunnels of different sizes can be explored in all four sections. Each tunnel appeals to a different sense and is of a different in length and height.
The first tunnel has 8 colourful windows. When the sun shines, captivating colours and shapes are projected onto the sand floor: red, orange, green and blue.
In a second tunnel, we listen to the sounds of resonating tubes and wood. Those who want to can try out the music or just listen to the wide variety of sounds.
The route leads on into the third tunnel. The focus here is on turning and pushing, so it promotes motor skills. The different materials used each create their own unique experience. Logs with notches and painted patterns create imaginative images when they are spun. A completely different touch experience is provided by the sliding game with steel elements of different shapes and sizes and two spinning stones.
